Parks & Trails
Drumheller citizens and visitors have access to over 17 kms of pathways along the Red Deer River.
Citizens and visitors alike have access to a number of resort areas and parks, including Newcastle Beach Recreation Area, Riverview Park and Centennial Park with the adjacent Rotary Spray Park, water fountain and T-Rex Statue. In addition, there are numerous smaller parks throughout the town that total over 150 acres. Midland Provincial Park, which houses the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, is located within the town site. Other nearby provincial parks includes Little Fish Lake Provincial Park and Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park.
Recreation Programs
The Drumheller Valley abounds with a variety of local recreational opportunities. Our location, facilities, programs and events offer people of all ages and skill levels unlimited opportunities for both indoor and outdoor recreation and sporting activity.
There are over 20 clubs and associations that are focused on a variety of activities which include: Badminton, Figure Skating, Minor Football, Gymnastics, Tai Kwon Do, Hap Ki Do, Golf, Minor Baseball and Hockey, Skiing, Soccer, Softball, Special Olympics, Square Dancing, and Swimming.
Our facilities include the newly renovated Drumheller Memorial Arena. This facility is used by minor hockey, fun team, figure skating groups, our Junior ‘A’ Drumheller Dragons, and the general public.
The Drumheller Aquaplex, which completed interior and exterior refurbishment in 2003, houses an indoor waterslide, steam room, hot tub and weight room facilities.
The Drumheller Valley Ski Hill has a quad chair lift and snow making capabilities.
The other facilities include the Drumheller Curling rink, outdoor skating rinks, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and 17km of pathways along the Red Deer River for walking, cycling and rollerblading. Golfing, rafting/canoeing, fishing, hiking mountain biking are some of the activities available locally.

The Drumheller Aquaplex offers a great selection of public swims where our focus is on your leisure time. With a trained staff, the safety of you and your family matter to all of us. It is becoming more important for your children to acquire swimming skills, and quite often the best way to start with your child is by parent participation. With parents active involvement in pool fun, the sooner your child learns to enjoy water fun to its fullest.
