Change Your Smoke Detector Batteries this Sunday |

The Drumheller Fire Department would like to advise everyone to change the batteries in their smoke detectors this Sunday, the 8th of March.

This date marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time (DST), specifically at 2 am.

This reminder comes in support of the initiatives of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC).

It is important that our smoke detectors are well maintained so as to ensure the security of our homes and workplaces.

One thing you can do is test them monthly to make sure that they are working properly. It is also important to note that each device only has a 10 year life span.

Aside from this, changing batteries is another way we can take this awareness to the next step. This link offers more details about this valuable safety measure.
