Here is a portion of a blog from a visitor to Drumheller. We were pleased they paid us a visit.
About Drumheller....
Do I recommend you go? Yes! Since no trip to Calgary is complete without a trip to Drumheller (which, for those of you who don’t know, is home to the amazing internationally-renowned Royal Tyrell Dinosaur Museum), and for me, now, no trip to Drumheller will be complete without a stopover in Wayne. We (well, I) suspected that we would be only patrons in this out-of-the-way venue, but the place was hopping when we went in on a weekday afternoon. It was filled with international travellers (we talked to two parties with visitors from California and England), the bartender was friendly and personable, and the food and drinks were great. Also, the decor is worth visiting for – I personally loved the snowshoes with flip-flops on the ceiling, but apparently there are also bullet holes from when this was a slightly more “wild west” venue (which, incidentally, was the 1970s).
The rest of my trip was great – I’ll post more about it later – but Wayne was definitely a surprising highlight. When you’re next in the neighbourhood, go check it out – it was a fun detour for a great afternoon.
