Who is Eligible to Vote?
Anyone is eligible to vote if they are:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Is a Canadian citizen.
- Has resided in Alberta for the six consecutive months immediately preceding Election Day (See section 48: “Rules of Residence”).
- Is a resident of the voting area on Election Day.
- Has not voted before in that Election.
Electors must vote at the assigned voting station for the voting subdivision in which the elector’s place of residence is located on Election Day, unless they are entitled to vote in the advance vote or the institutional vote.
Rules of Residence for Voters
- An elector may only vote at the voting station if he is a resident in the voting subdivision or ward.
- A person may have only one place of residence for the purpose of this act.
- The residence of a person is the place where he lives and sleeps and to which, when he is absent, intends to return.
- A person does not lose his residence by leaving his home for a temporary purpose such as vacation or education.
- If a person leaves the area with the intention of making his residence elsewhere, he loses his residence within the area.
- A student who:
- Attends and educational facility within or outside Alberta,
- Temporarily rents accommodations while attending an educational facility,
- Has family members who are resident in Alberta, and with whom the student resides when not attending an educational facility, is deemed to reside with family members.
A student can only have one residence in Alberta on Election Day. They cannot vote in Drumheller as well as the municipality of their school.
Election Results
Un-Official election results will be available on Election Day by accessing the Town’s webpage www.dinosaurvalley.com and following the link for “Living in Drumheller”, “Local Government”, and “Municipal Elections”. The results will be presented in descending vote order and updated periodically as the ballot accounts have been submitted and processed. The page will automatically refresh every minute.
Pay attention to the number of stations reporting to determine if the results are progressive or completed. This site is easily viewable with a dial-up modem. For presentation purposes, pressing F11 will toggle the display or the hiding of the toolbars for a “full screen” view.

MUNICIPAL ELECTION 2007 WORKERS (published weeks of Sep03, Sep10, Sep17)
The Returning Officer is preparing a list of election workers who wish to be employed at the 2007 municipal election to be held on October 15, 2007 for the municipal and school offices and the question regarding the Badlands Community Facility.
Interested persons are requested to submit a brief letter of application to the undersigned as soon as possible. Please include any previous election experience, your civic address, mailing address, and daytime and evening telephone numbers.
Applications may be mailed or delivered to the Returning Officer at
Town Hall, 703 - 2 Avenue West, Drumheller, Alberta T0J 0Y3.
