Position Summary: This position is responsible for the supervision of lifeguards and instructors while leading and supporting the overall operation of the Aquaplex. The Senior Shift Supervisor works closely with the Aquaplex Manager with close attention to maintaining water and facility cleanliness, public relations, financial reporting and aquatics programming.  

The ideal candidate combines a strong background in Aquatics programming and administration with a fun approach that focuses on the safety and enjoyment of all of our clients.

Employment Category: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 37.5 - 40 hrs/week. Shift work includes nights and weekends – based on a compressed work week, and conforming to the Town Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay Scale: $23.17 - $25.54 per hour

Benefits: As per the Town’s HR Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Education and Experience: Bondable, Completion of grade 12 or equivalent must possess Standard First Aid/Aquatic Emergency Care and National Lifeguard. Must be 18 years of age or older. Three to five (3-5) years experience as a lifeguard and/or instructor including experience in a supervisory role. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification or equivalent.

Must be able to provide a current Criminal Record Check

Position Summary:  This position is responsible for supervising staff, assisting with maintenance and operations of the Aquaplex, including maintaining Water Quality, Lifeguarding, Janitorial duties, Public Relations, daily cash balancing and deposits, ensuring all rules and regulations regarding safety are complied with, assisting with program development.  The Town currently has two (2) positions available.

Employment Category:  Full Time

Hours Per Week: 37.5 - 44 hrs/week. Shift work includes nights and weekends – based on a compressed work week, and conforming to the Town Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay Scale:  $20.35 - $23.89

Aquaplex Logo                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Position Summary:  At the foot of the World’s Largest Dinosaur, the Drumheller Aquaplex continues a long-standing tradition of service as one of the Town of Drumheller most treasured community assets.  As we move forward with plans to provide enhanced aquatic services to the public, we seek highly energetic, qualified individuals to serve us as Casual and Seasonal Lifeguards or Instructors.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Aquatic Operations and Recreation Programs all staff are responsible for providing a safe, clean, professional and friendly environment to ensure that pool patrons have a positive aquatic experience. 

Staff paid training in return for a long term commitment to the organization. 

Further involvement in facility scheduling, programming, pool operations and maintenance are coordinated in collaboration with other town departments.

Employment Category: Casual and Seasonal Lifeguards or Instructors

Hours per Week: Up to 37.5 - 40 hrs/week. Shift work includes morning, days, evenings and weekends – conforming to the Town Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Education and Experience:  Depending on the level of experience, all applicants must have their National Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate &/or Water Safety Instructor or Lifesaving Instructor; Standard First Aid and Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.  Candidates with excellent communication and positive interpersonal skills; time management and computer skills and knowledge of aquatics programming principles are encouraged to apply.  An effective customer approach and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are essential.

TITLE: Aquaplex Cashier/Waterslide Attendant

REPORTS TO: Aquaplex Supervisor, Shift Supervisors

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for providing assistance the public at the front counter;
  • Respond to inquiries and answer the telephone at the Aquaplex, and;
  • Responsible for cashiering services. Responsible for supervision to the public in the waterslide area and performs maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the Aquaplex.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides cashier services for the Aquaplex.
  • Responsible for taking cash and issuing receipts for daily Aquaplex admission, swimming lessons, as well as season passes.
  • Ensures good public relations on behalf of the Town.
  • Greets the public and provides assistance when requested.
  • Responds to in person and telephone inquiries and provides the necessary advice.
  • Ensures participants and general public follow the facility’s safety rules.
  • Provide direction to the public regarding safe use of the facility.
  • Performs maintenance functions as described in the daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Familiar with and adheres to the Town of Drumheller’s safety policy and relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Fifteen years of age or enrolled in a minimum of Grade 9.
  • Preference given to those entering or enrolled in a post secondary institution recognized by the Federal Summer Employment Grant Program or Provincial Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP)

Must meet the following:

  • Bondable
  • Performs all duties with a minimum of supervision and works effectively with variable work loads and produces timely and accurate documentation.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must Submit to a Criminal Records Check.
  • Valid Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross certifications.
  • Standard First Aid award or Assistant Water Safety Instructor award an asset.
