Assistant Mechanic - TEMPORARY

The Town of Drumheller is seeking an enthusiastic and industrious individual for the temporary position of Assistant Mechanic Full time position. 

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Mechanic, this individual is responsible for providing skilled mechanical work directed towards the repair, maintenance, and service of all types of Town-owned equipment and vehicles

This is a temporary position with an estimated term of 8 weeks. 

Hours per Week:  40 hours – Monday - Friday

Pay Scale:  $30.89 per hr

Benefits:  Vacation pay earned at 6% as per the collective agreement.

Qualifications:  Must be enrolled in or eligible to enrol in as an apprentice in a Mechanics Certificate program.  Preference given to those with a Journeyman Certificate (Heavy Duty) in automotive service or equivalent.

Successful Candidate must be: 

  • Bondable
  • Able to service municipal equipment and vehicles on-site as required
  • Carry out light fabrication and welding
  • Perform other related duties as required

Investment Attraction Specialist | Cold Calling Professional

8 month Term Proposal Based Contract

The Town of Drumheller is looking for a motivated Investment Attraction Specialist to join the Economic Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the economic development of Drumheller.  The successful candidate will use their expertise, knowledge and experience, to develop and engage a strong list of investment prospects both within the community and at provincial, national and international levels.

The Investment Attraction Specialist will identify, research, pursue, and close new business opportunities of specified size and value through the development and implementation of a Customer Relationship Management system while using various channels to generate leads.  Individuals will be required to hit monthly and quarterly targets and report results to the Economic Development Team (Economic Development Officer and Economic Development Advisory Committee).

This is initially an 8 month contract position with potential for an extended term. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform a high volume of outbound calls and follow through on business and investment opportunities
  • Responsible for generating and qualifying leads and closing the deal
  • Primarily responsible for the development of an Investment Attraction Plan that includes opportunity identification, marketing and facilitation of business opportunities that result in community investment and business retention.  
  • Provide excellent relationship management to ensure all client needs are addressed
  • Build and maintain interest in investment in the Town of Drumheller

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Persistent and eager to close deals
  • Demonstrated perseverance
  • Ability to adjust communication style; catering to different audiences with excellent diplomacy and listening skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in conjunction with building credibility and confidence to liaise with Senior level positions
  • Experience in sales is expected (2 years minimum)
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to deliver results within required deadlines
  • Ability to work in a home office environment and report results regularly to stakeholder groups
  • The ability to work independently and stay motivated

Job Type: 8 month term Proposal Based Contract

Required experience:

  • Sales including Cold Calling: 2 years
  • Fluent in English, Additional  languages are considered an asset

Aquaplex Logo                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Position Summary:  At the foot of the World’s Largest Dinosaur, the Drumheller Aquaplex continues a long-standing tradition of service as one of the Town of Drumheller most treasured community assets.  As we move forward with plans to provide enhanced aquatic services to the public, we seek highly energetic, qualified individuals to serve us as Casual and Seasonal Lifeguards or Instructors.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Aquatic Operations and Recreation Programs all staff are responsible for providing a safe, clean, professional and friendly environment to ensure that pool patrons have a positive aquatic experience. 

Staff paid training in return for a long term commitment to the organization. 

Further involvement in facility scheduling, programming, pool operations and maintenance are coordinated in collaboration with other town departments.

Employment Category: Casual and Seasonal Lifeguards or Instructors

Hours per Week: Up to 37.5 - 40 hrs/week. Shift work includes morning, days, evenings and weekends – conforming to the Town Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay Scale:  As per current CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Education and Experience:  Depending on the level of experience, all applicants must have their National Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate &/or Water Safety Instructor or Lifesaving Instructor; Standard First Aid and Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.  Candidates with excellent communication and positive interpersonal skills; time management and computer skills and knowledge of aquatics programming principles are encouraged to apply.  An effective customer approach and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are essential.

TITLE: Aquaplex Cashier/Waterslide Attendant

REPORTS TO: Aquaplex Supervisor, Shift Supervisors



  • Responsible for providing assistance the public at the front counter;
  • Respond to inquiries and answer the telephone at the Aquaplex, and;
  • Responsible for cashiering services. Responsible for supervision to the public in the waterslide area and performs maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the Aquaplex.


  • Provides cashier services for the Aquaplex.
  • Responsible for taking cash and issuing receipts for daily Aquaplex admission, swimming lessons, as well as season passes.
  • Ensures good public relations on behalf of the Town.
  • Greets the public and provides assistance when requested.
  • Responds to in person and telephone inquiries and provides the necessary advice.
  • Ensures participants and general public follow the facility’s safety rules.
  • Provide direction to the public regarding safe use of the facility.
  • Performs maintenance functions as described in the daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Familiar with and adheres to the Town of Drumheller’s safety policy and relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.


  • Fifteen years of age or enrolled in a minimum of Grade 9.
  • Preference given to those entering or enrolled in a post secondary institution recognized by the Federal Summer Employment Grant Program or Provincial Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP)

Must meet the following:

  • Bondable
  • Performs all duties with a minimum of supervision and works effectively with variable work loads and produces timely and accurate documentation.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must Submit to a Criminal Records Check.
  • Valid Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross certifications.
