The Town of Drumheller is seeking an individual to fill the Activity Specialist position at the Badlands Community Facility for the Summer Fun Program 2017

Position Summary: Reporting to the Summer Fun Coordinator and Badlands Community Facility Business Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with the day to day operation of the Summer Fun Program for Children ages 6 – 12. 

As well as assisting with Special Event Programming for the Community Services Department.

Hours per Week:  As needed basis  – Monday - Friday

Pay Scale:    Activity Specialist as per CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement

Benefits: As per the Town’s HR policy and CUPE 135 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications:

     • Minimum sixteen years of age

     • Previous experience working with kids, sports, and recreational activities would be considered assets

The Town of Drumheller is seeking an individual to fill the Permanent Part Time Bylaw Enforcement Officer position.

Position Summary:  Responsible for the enforcement of all Town of Drumheller bylaws and relevant Provincial legislation as directed by the Bylaw Enforcement Supervisor. 

Ensures that enforcement of Towns bylaws and other legislation is executed in a fair and consistent manner and follows the principles of natural justice.

Employment Category:  Part Time

Hours per Week:  24 Hours per week.  Also required to work some weekends in the summer.

Pay Scale: Based on experience and qualifications (Bylaw Enforcement 1 to Bylaw Enforcement 3)

Benefits: As per the Town’s HR Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Education and Experience: Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent and required certifications.

Two to three years of bylaw enforcement experience with the following qualifications:

          • Ability to obtain an Enhanced Security Clearance from the R.C.M.P.

          • Ability to be appointed to Special Constable Status

          • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

          • Must be Bondable

Preference given to those with experience in bylaw enforcement, policing or correction services.

Temporary Full Time (One Year)

The Badlands Community Facility with over 1,000 active members and a long list of community user groups requires a well organized and very personable team member to deliver excellent service to the public.

As the Bookings and Customer Service Specialist you will be responsible for special events and customer service at the Badlands Community Facility. 

The Bookings and Customer Service Specialist is primarily responsible for managing all bookings and events at the Badlands Community Facility and for the data entry of bookingson the Activenet System. 

The Bookings and Customer Service Specialist will also play a lead role in administrative support to other staff including the Manager Recreation, Arts and Culture of the Badlands Community Facility.

Education and Experience:  Grade 12.  Preference given to those with post secondary in office administration and/or experience

Classification:  Customer Service Specialist 1 - $20.48 - $23.90 per hour

Term:  1 year (Maternity Leave)

Hours: 37.5 hours/wk – Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend support

Aquaplex Logo                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Position Summary:  At the foot of the World’s Largest Dinosaur, the Drumheller Aquaplex continues a long-standing tradition of service as one of the Town of Drumheller most treasured community assets.  As we move forward with plans to provide enhanced aquatic services to the public, we seek highly energetic, qualified individuals to serve us as Casual and Seasonal Lifeguards or Instructors.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Aquatic Operations and Recreation Programs all staff are responsible for providing a safe, clean, professional and friendly environment to ensure that pool patrons have a positive aquatic experience. 

Staff paid training in return for a long term commitment to the organization. 

Further involvement in facility scheduling, programming, pool operations and maintenance are coordinated in collaboration with other town departments.

Employment Category: Casual and Seasonal Lifeguards or Instructors

Hours per Week: Up to 37.5 - 40 hrs/week. Shift work includes morning, days, evenings and weekends – conforming to the Town Policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Pay Scale:  As per current CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Education and Experience:  Depending on the level of experience, all applicants must have their National Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate &/or Water Safety Instructor or Lifesaving Instructor; Standard First Aid and Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.  Candidates with excellent communication and positive interpersonal skills; time management and computer skills and knowledge of aquatics programming principles are encouraged to apply.  An effective customer approach and the ability to work in a fast paced environment are essential.

TITLE: Aquaplex Cashier/Waterslide Attendant

REPORTS TO: Aquaplex Supervisor, Shift Supervisors

DIRECT REPORTS: N/A

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for providing assistance the public at the front counter;
  • Respond to inquiries and answer the telephone at the Aquaplex, and;
  • Responsible for cashiering services. Responsible for supervision to the public in the waterslide area and performs maintenance and janitorial duties throughout the Aquaplex.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides cashier services for the Aquaplex.
  • Responsible for taking cash and issuing receipts for daily Aquaplex admission, swimming lessons, as well as season passes.
  • Ensures good public relations on behalf of the Town.
  • Greets the public and provides assistance when requested.
  • Responds to in person and telephone inquiries and provides the necessary advice.
  • Ensures participants and general public follow the facility’s safety rules.
  • Provide direction to the public regarding safe use of the facility.
  • Performs maintenance functions as described in the daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Familiar with and adheres to the Town of Drumheller’s safety policy and relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Fifteen years of age or enrolled in a minimum of Grade 9.
  • Preference given to those entering or enrolled in a post secondary institution recognized by the Federal Summer Employment Grant Program or Provincial Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP)

Must meet the following:

  • Bondable
  • Performs all duties with a minimum of supervision and works effectively with variable work loads and produces timely and accurate documentation.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must Submit to a Criminal Records Check.
  • Valid Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross certifications.
  • Standard First Aid award or Assistant Water Safety Instructor award an asset.
