Residents of Drumheller enjoy living in one of the sunniest places in all of Alberta!

Annually, the dinosaur capital of the world sees over 2,400 hours of sunshine.

Spring like temperatures usually begin early April when warm, sunny weather is common during the day with cool, freezing temperatures at night.

By the start of May you’ll see many farmers out seeding their crops. June is traditionally a wet month while July and August are very hot and dry.

The average temperature in the summer usually hovers around 28°C. It begins to cool down gradually once September arrives.

The average temperature from September to early November is about 10°C, however the Autumn colors in the valley make for a very picturesque community.

Winter in Drumheller can be quite extreme. Usually winter temperatures start in mid November and continue until the end of March.

The average winter temps hover around -9°C, however it’s not uncommon for cold spells to arrive and temperatures plummet to the -40’s.

Drumheller is fortunate to periodically receive warming winds, or Chinooks, that can moderate temperatures.

This allows for great snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowman and snow fort building.
