Mayor Heather copy 2017 mike todor

As Mayor of Drumheller, I must say I have the best job in the Valley and that is to welcome you to this great community. If this is your first time visiting the valley or you are planning on becoming a resident, I welcome you to this great place. Many of our residents came for a visit and fell in love with the attractiveness of our Valley and now call Drumheller home. Whether you are a visitor or new resident, we are sure you will feel the warm hospitality of the residents of this great Valley.

As you enter the heart of the Canadian Badlands, it is as if you are entering a distant land. From the moment you start to descend the hills, you'll witness a Valley filled with blossoming trees, a gorgeous river and eye-catching views wherever you turn.

Our town is filled with dinosaur statues (sadly not the real ones that once roamed here), and offers attractions unlike anywhere else. From the hoodoos, Atlas Coal Mine, and Swinging Bridge, to the World Renowned Tyrrell Museum and World's Largest Dinosaur, Drumheller is a place people travel to from all around the world to experience. Drumheller is unlike any other tourist destination. With the welcoming downtown streets, friendly residents and countless dinosaur statues, our Valley has a charm like no other.

We are so blessed with a diverse community of generational families as well as new people establishing their roots. Our community has a wide range of nationalities and offers numerous multi-cultural amenities through social clubs and organizations.

Drumheller further provides an inclusive community, as we have a number of churches of different denominations. These churches provide youth groups, church dinners and clubs to help bring people together.

Additionally, Drumheller features a first class hospital and multiple doctor's clinics, dentists, denturists, chiropractors and provides an array of health care services within the Valley. This makes it a prime place to live, raise a family and retire.

We have facilities that attract the full spectrum of age groups, starting at youth and moving to seniors. Some of these include our recreation facilities such as a newly updated gradual entrance pool and an arena that is home to the Jr. A Drumheller Dragons hockey team, Drumheller Skating Club and Drumheller Minor Hockey. As well, we offer a curling rink, miles of safe nature trails for walking and biking, and our first-class facility provides a full size field house, lacrosse, all court sports, walking/running track, weight rooms, pickle ball, exercise studio, and fitness classes. This community facility contains a state of the art library and conference centre that seats over 500 people, featuring an amazing river view off the patio. The community facility is continuously hosting workshops, classes and events to keep citizens educated, engaged and informed about the Valley.

Drumheller is also home to numerous cultural and artistic venues. The Kaleidoscope Theatre puts on multiple plays throughout the year and our downtown is decorated with art galleries displaying the unique images of the Valley and many other artistic creations. As well, the summer is filled with music festivals such as Wayne Fest, East Coulee Springfest and the world-renowned Passion Play. Furthermore, you may never know when you could be on the set of a movie, as the film industry is often drawn to our backdrops and scenery that is unlike anywhere else.

In terms of education, Drumheller has both a public and Catholic school system. There is a public elementary school, a public school from grades 7-12 and a Catholic school from Kindergarten through to grade 12. These schools both offer an outreach school for students wanting to take classes by correspondence, as well. Drumheller also offers continuing adult education opportunities through Campus Alberta and Hope College.

The Valley has many service clubs including Rotary, Lions, Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus, Legion, Beta Sigma Phi, and many more, allowing you to find something to help you immediately become part of our community. If you are unsure of what club you want to join or where you want to spend your time, our town provides a volunteer list that is updated regularly to assist you in getting involved in something that allows you to share your knowledge and passion, while meeting so many wonderful people.

Whether you are a resident, visitor or investor, on behalf of Town Council, I welcome you to our amazing Valley and know you will enjoy it here as much as we do!
