DRUMHELLER, March 3, 2009 – The Town of Drumheller is pleased to confirm that the Drumheller Minor Hockey Association has pledged its support for the Badlands Community Facility. The association announced that it will give $75,000.00 to this community project.
Drumheller Minor Hockey Association President Linda Lacher said, “We feel it is very important to support the Badlands Community Facility. Drumheller has a very high demand for ice time. The arena is used by Minor Hockey, the Dragons, Fun League and Figure Skating. The different components of the facility will help out all organizations with game times, practice times and activities such as dry land training.”
Badlands Community Facility fund raising chairperson Jeff Hall was very appreciative of the sizeable donation made by the Drumheller Minor Hockey Association. “With approximately 180 participants minor hockey is one of the largest user groups for the current facility. Minor Hockey realizes the importance of being behind a project like this and we are very happy that they have financially supported the Badlands Community Facility.”
The construction of the Badlands Community Facility has already started. The construction will start with a field house, running track, fitness centre, meeting facilities and a public library followed by an arena and curling rink as funding becomes available.
The Badlands Community Facility has a fund raising target of $12 Million Dollars. Since November over $1.7 million has been raised. If you would like to receive more information on sponsorship or pledging opportunities please contact any member of the fund raising Committee.
