East Coulee - Lehigh Water Project - Public Information

On Tuesday, November 9th officials from the Town of Drumheller and consulting engineers from Stantec Engineering met with residents from East Coulee and Lehigh to present the proposed water transmission and distribution project to area residents.

Highlights from the meeting included the introduction of the project and the estimated costs associated with providing treated water from the Town of Drumheller's water utility by extending water services from Cambria to the residents in the communities of Lehigh and East Coulee.

The province's decision to fund 90% of the cost of creating the transmission line (the portion of the project that brings water from Cambria to East Coulee)demonstrates the province's commitment to establishing a long term solution to ensure adequate supply of safe water to residents.

Provincial funding is limited to the transmission portion of the project, while area residents need to determine if they are willing to bare the costs associated with the distribution portion of the project (the portion that takes water from the main transmission line - in proximity to individual dwellings).
