Investment Attraction Specialist | Cold Calling Professional

8 month Term Proposal Based Contract

The Town of Drumheller is looking for a motivated Investment Attraction Specialist to join the Economic Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the economic development of Drumheller.  The successful candidate will use their expertise, knowledge and experience, to develop and engage a strong list of investment prospects both within the community and at provincial, national and international levels.

The Investment Attraction Specialist will identify, research, pursue, and close new business opportunities of specified size and value through the development and implementation of a Customer Relationship Management system while using various channels to generate leads.  Individuals will be required to hit monthly and quarterly targets and report results to the Economic Development Team (Economic Development Officer and Economic Development Advisory Committee).

This is initially an 8 month contract position with potential for an extended term. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform a high volume of outbound calls and follow through on business and investment opportunities
  • Responsible for generating and qualifying leads and closing the deal
  • Primarily responsible for the development of an Investment Attraction Plan that includes opportunity identification, marketing and facilitation of business opportunities that result in community investment and business retention.  
  • Provide excellent relationship management to ensure all client needs are addressed
  • Build and maintain interest in investment in the Town of Drumheller

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Persistent and eager to close deals
  • Demonstrated perseverance
  • Ability to adjust communication style; catering to different audiences with excellent diplomacy and listening skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in conjunction with building credibility and confidence to liaise with Senior level positions
  • Experience in sales is expected (2 years minimum)
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to deliver results within required deadlines
  • Ability to work in a home office environment and report results regularly to stakeholder groups
  • The ability to work independently and stay motivated

Job Type: 8 month term Proposal Based Contract

Required experience:

  • Sales including Cold Calling: 2 years
  • Fluent in English, Additional  languages are considered an asset
  • Computer based Social media, Email, CRM, Phone and Business
