Fee Structure to Change at the Drumheller & District Regional Landfill

The Drumheller and District Regional Landfill will be introducing a new fee structure which will start April 2, 2018.

"The fee increases are necessary to meet increased costs associated with the operation of the facility; and the reduction in disposal fees with the downturn in the economy" explained Executive Director of Operations, Tammi Nygaard "the landfill has an outdated fee structure, it was importatnt to update as it has been in effect since the implementation of the weigh scale in 1992."

"The Drumheller & District Solid Waste Management Association has decided to implement a new minimum fee policy", added Ben Armstrong, Chair of the Drumheller and District Landfill, "in order to create a more equiitable fee structure for all members."

The following disposal fees will apply for all waste materials delivered to the Regional Landfill; and are effective April 2, 2018.

  • Residential Waste from within the region between 1 - 250 kgs will be charged a $5.00 minimum fee.
  • Regional Residential Waste over 250 kgs will be charged $55.00 per metric tonne.
  • Construction/Demolition Material from within the region between 1 - 250 kgs will be charged a $10.00 minimum fee.
  • Regional Construction/Demolition Material over 250 kgs will be charged $57.50 per metric tonne.

The new fees will apply to all residents within the region, both rural and urban.

The Regional Landfill located in Drumheller, Alberta is operated and maintained by the Drumheller & District Solid Waste Management Association (DDSWMA).  The organization consists of members from Wheatland County, Kneehill County, Starland County, Town of Drumheller, Town of Trochu, Villages of Acme, Beiseker, Carbon, Delia, Hussar, Linden, Morrin, Munson, Rockyford, and Standard.  Servicing a population base of 28,865 people within a 100 km radius of Drumheller.
