Community Clean Up 2020

Community Clean Up this year will be taking place Sept 14 to 25 2020 

Until then, residents are encouraged to pick up two free vouchers; two (2) per household; to be redeemed at the landfill for two (2) free loads of acceptable materials; up to a maximum weight of 375 kg per load (non accumulative).

These vouchers will be available at Town Hall from Monday June 15 2020. If you are a tenant please bring notice from your land owner that they are happy with you having the two vouchers.

Vouchers must be redeemed at the time of use to the Landfill scale attendant.

Vouchers cannot be used for renovation/demolition materials, commercial/industrial materials or Freon appliances.

Below is a list of acceptable materials which the vouchers can be used for:

Household materials: kitchen/bathroom refuse, furniture such as, couches, chairs, mattress sets, dressers, desks, bookshelves, old clothing, lamps (light bulbs removed), kid's toys, etc.

Metal: White metals, barbeques, play sets, lawn mowers, trimmers (all oil and fuel must be removed prior to arrival at the landfill, failure to do so will result in material not being accepted), bicycles.

Compostable materials: Leaves, branches, grass and tree branches, branches can be no more than 1-foot diameter if larger tree/stump disposal fee of $62.50/t will be applied.

Electronics: Televisions, computers and accessories, printers, microwaves, stereos, electronic games, power tools etc.

Household Hazardous Waste: Paint, aerosols, used oil/oil filters, household cleaners, garden chemicals, fire extinguishers, vehicle batteries, household batteries (must be contained), fluorescent or energy efficient light bulbs.

Other: Tires (with or without rims), propane tanks, vehicle batteries.

Any of the materials listed below will be accepted however a charge of $62.50 per metric tonne will be applied; this includes co-mingled or mixed loads.If a load has any unacceptable materials in the load then the entire load is defined as unacceptable.

Renovation/demolition materials: wood, drywall, shingles, fences, decks, toilets, counter tops, vanities, carpet/underlay, windows, doors, kitchen/bathroom renovations etc.

Trees/Stumps: any trees or stumps larger than 1-foot in diameter, land clearing debris.

Mobile Equipment: holiday trailers, campers, tent trailers, utility trailers, vehicles, and its interior.

Freon:All freon appliances ; fridges, freezers, air conditioners and water coolers will have a $15.00 per appliance disposal fee applied at the Landfill

Commercial/Industrial waste is not included in the program.
